Bertha Winston: Guiding Your Path to Financial Success

Meet Bertha Delose Winston, a true luminary in personal development and financial coaching. With a remarkable journey filled with accomplishments, Bertha is a beacon of guidance, spreading her wisdom to help others achieve financial success.

Can you introduce yourself and share your journey as an author and coach in the personal development industry?

I’m Evangelist Bertha D. Winston, a radio personality with eight years of experience hosting the Eagle Kind Radio Broadcast on 1340 AM WYCB. But my story goes beyond radio. I’m the oldest of eleven children, married for 54 years to Clifton H. Winston, Jr., a proud mother of three children, with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. For over 40 years, I’ve been an active member of Jesus Way Temple Christian Church, where I’ve held various roles.

Beyond my spiritual involvement, I am the Secretary, Board Member, Worship Leader, and Associate Minister. I’ve also served as a Board Member for foreign missions in the Republic of Haiti. In the realm of literature, I co-authored four anthologies and, on May 4, 2023, achieved a milestone by publishing my book, “Love Like You’ve Never Been Hurt,” which became a #1 bestseller in three categories the very next day. Entrepreneurship is my passion, and I serve as the Executive Vice President of Destined2Millions and the Winston Experience, a financial success company, since 2013. My 30-year successful journey as a Mary Kay consultant and co-ownership of an all-exclusive event and conference center called “The Pavilion” in Suitland, Maryland, showcase my versatility. Even during the pandemic, I thrived in my partnership in an event venue business called “Intimate Events by the W.”

I’ve also been featured in prestigious magazines such as Black Woman Magazine, Sheen Magazine, SoigneSwank Magazine, and even international publications like Global Labour Events Business Magazine (GLEBM) in Nigeria.

Beyond my professional journey, I aspire to teach retirees and those planning retirement how to eliminate debt, become debt-free, and encourage them to start home-based businesses, drawing from my extensive experience as an entrepreneur.

How do you handle setbacks in your coaching business, and what lessons have you learned from them?

Setbacks are part of any business journey. I view them as opportunities for learning and improvement. A growth mindset helps me stay open to new possibilities, adapt to changing circumstances, and find creative solutions. I reflect on what went wrong, analyze objectively, and identify areas for improvement. This self-awareness is crucial for avoiding similar issues. I seek advice and support from fellow coaches, mentors, and professionals in the industry. Their insights help me navigate challenges and reinforce that I’m not alone in facing difficulties. Being adaptable is key, as setbacks often arise from unexpected changes. Effective communication with clients, a well-thought-out contingency plan, and self-care are essential during setbacks. Feedback is invaluable; I use it as a tool for improvement and growth.

Are there personal values influencing your coaching approach?

Personal values guide my coaching. I emphasize empathy and active listening to understand each client’s unique financial situation. Transparency and honesty foster open conversations about money. I advocate for financial literacy and empowerment, educating clients about the reasoning behind solutions. Long-term planning and sustainable change are crucial, ensuring clients are equipped to navigate current and future financial landscapes.

How do you differentiate your coaching approach from others in the industry?

I differentiate through personalized guidance, holistic financial strategies, and empowering clients. Personalization ensures advice is relevant and achievable. Holistic strategies consider all financial aspects. Behavioral psychology helps clients overcome biases. I’m an educator and partner, fostering financial literacy and long-term relationships. Tangible goals and ethical standards build trust and confidence.
