New Voice ALBII Brings Unique Vision to Alt-Pop Scene

New on the scene — ALBII, is set to make waves with “Hold On (Psycho),” dropping February 7th, 2025, in Australia (February 6th in the USA). Behind the artist name stands Bianca Hinton, whose fascinating journey weaves together visual artistry with a sound that she playfully describes as “dreamy pop having an affair with the grim reaper.”

Life has a funny way of pushing us toward our true calling, and for ALBII, that push came through an intense battle with aggressive breast cancer. “I endured 1.5 years of treatment – chemotherapy, radiation, a mastectomy, immunotherapy. It really took a toll, but I realised quickly that life is so fragile and unpredictable,” she reveals, her words carrying the weight of someone who’s stared down mortality. This brush with fate didn’t just change her outlook – it kicked open the door to her musical dreams, leading her to a simple but powerful realization: “if not today, then when? We’re not guaranteed tomorrow.”

The seeds of ALBII’s journey in music were planted in childhood, where she developed an unlikely musical compass. “The Forest Gump movie soundtrack was one of my absolute favourites and I feel like it really shaped who I am as an artist today, which is so specific and random,” she says with a laugh. Though initially held back by crippling shyness, she found her first creative outlet in videography and cinematography – skills that would later prove invaluable to her music career.

Her sound defies easy categorization, blending unexpected elements into something fresh. “We love experimenting with different sounds to create something cool that you don’t really hear often,” she explains, enthusiastically describing her mix of “darker tones and synths” reminiscent of Lana Del Rey or Billie Eilish, married with what she calls “90s/early 2000s pop influences.”

In her songwriting, ALBII moves effortlessly between light and shadow. “I love writing from different perspectives,” she shares, noting how her debut single takes a surprisingly playful turn despite her recent challenges. “Some songs are super personal, especially when I dive into my traumatic experiences last year, but ‘Hold On (Psycho)’ is more playful and cheeky with a dash of humour.”

Looking toward 2025, ALBII’s calendar is filling up quickly with projects, but her mission remains beautifully simple: “I want my listeners to feel alive when they put on one of my songs. Whether they laugh, cry, or dance – I just want them to feel connected in some way.”

Perhaps most striking is her message about resilience, delivered with raw honesty: “My music is deeply personal, often shaped by my journey with cancer, but it’s also about finding hope, humour, and connection even in the hardest moments,” she reflects. “I want people to know that healing isn’t linear, and it’s okay to feel everything – to laugh, to cry and to keep moving forward. Life is unpredictable, but through music we can create something meaningful out of the chaos.”

Fans can follow ALBII’s journey on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Threads, with Instagram currently serving as her main platform for updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses into her creative process.
